Black Friday

(Article from the Spectrum)
Garrett Frei, left, sleeps bundled against the cold as he waits in line for the opening of the Red Cilffs Mall in the early morning hours of Black Friday, the traditional start of the holiday shopping season.
We were in the paper! haha. Well, I'm bundled up on the freaking cement so Garrett is the only one you can see, but you can see my coat over my head.
Our night started at 10p.m as we stood in line for the Zion Factory Outlets. We we're about 20th in line to receive a gift bag that had goodies and a ten dollar gift certificate. We went in hopes of being one of the big 500 dollar winners. We left there about 2:30 a.m. and headed to the mall. There was already a line forming! We thought we would go home and sleep for a little bit but we pulled in the parking lot and started our journey in line. We froze our butts off! It was so cold!

This whole experience was a great thing and it was fun to have the memories, but most of all it made me grateful that I have a roof over my head and that we can be warm in our beds at night. I thought of the homeless people that have nothing but newspapers to keep them warm. So here's to the season! I hope all of us can remember the TRUE meaning of this holiday season and that we won't be so caught up in gifts and getting them but remember that it's about the thought of giving the gift, not exactly what the gift is. Happy holidays everyone!

I've Been Tagged!

First of all, thanks to Mitch and Meghan for tagging me. Secondly, there is no way I'll get Garrett to write six things about himself on here, so I'm going to do a little for both of us. hahaha. Let's see how this turns out! It might be more fun for the opposite to write for the other person. :)

* Garrett James Frei *
1. Garrett went on his mission to Chuuk Micronesia. Everytime we tell people where he went, without fail they are like WHERE? They are tiny little islands which used to be called the Truck Islands. If any of you watched Survivor Palau, that's close to the Chuuk islands.

2. He can climb palm trees with the best of them. He is like a big monkey. I wish I had a picture of it. When we went to Hawaii he climed better then the guys at the Polenesian Cultural Center! They have to use a cloth to go around the tree. Garrett just uses his bare hands and his bare feet. It is so cool to watch him.

3. Every year my work plays Survivor. It's totally like the real thing. We do physically and mentall challenging things. Garrett came and played and he ate 26 crickets!!! Sooooo gross, but we won a hundred bucks! :)
4. He is Mr. Athlete. He loves to play sports, and the thing that drives me crazy is hes so good at all of them! He's tried to teach me how to play golf and it's going to take a lot of work. He loves to golf, play softball with his Hot Suds team, and above all things he loves the lake. He would live at the lake if I let him. If he had the choice of going to Hawaii or anywhere (besides Chuuk), he would choose Lake Powell. We hope to someday have a boat that we can take our family out on.

5. Garrett loves to be out in the mountains. When it's not hunting season (which thank goodness is over and I can have my husband back) he is out on the 4 wheelers enjoying that good ole outdoor air. He loves the outdoors so much, he voulenteers his time and is a part of the Search and Rescue team.
6. Garrett is an amazing teacher. He is constantly teaching - about anything. We teach the CTR 8 class in primary and he is so good with the kids. He also loves our niece and nephews and loves to teach them. And - he teaches me.

1. My whole life I went with my rib cage being itsy bitsy. Well when I graduated we discovered that it was crushing my heart and lungs. I had to have surgery in which they broke my entire rib cage and put two bars in to keep it out. This is a picture of the emergency surgery I had to have to remove one of the bars which my body was rejecting and was trying to shoot out my armpit (literally)

2. I love love love the beach!!!! If I could live ON the beach, I would. :) I love everything about it. The air, the sound, the sun on my face and the sand in my toes.

3. I have this crazy fetish for french fries! It's no wonder I ended up being a "Frei" hahaha. It's such a terrible food to love, but I do!!! Some of the best places to get french fries are - Sonic, Dairy Queen, Marv's, and The Bloomington Country Club.

4. My family is one of the closest things to my heart. If I talk about them and how special they are to me, I get teary eyed. Each one of them are special to me in their own way.

5. I love to scrapbook.
6. Above all the things I love and the weird quirks about me, I love my husband Garrett. He is the ultimate match for me. He gets all my weird quirks, tolerates my weird cravings for french fries, and is along side me pushing me to be a better person. He is my best friend and I know that I can count on him for anything.

Lake Powell

Yeehaw! We had SOOO much fun at Lake Powell. I wish I knew how to do a template instead were stuck with these scattered pictures. We took a ton more, but there's just tons of everyone wakeboarding and on the tube - we get pretty crazy on the TUBE! Anyway, there are some of the classic going off the slide on the house boat, Garrett tried Slolm skiing for the first time, we went to The Point and had dinner Saturday night, all the boys got crazy doing back flips off the top of the house boat, and some of me and the fam.... I know I look hot in my nice slicked bun. I have curly hair so it's great to maintain at the lake. Anyway, we had such a blast. The weather was PERFECT and the water felt great. We came home Monday evening because it was mine and Garrett's two year anniversary and he wanted to take me to dinner. I'll do another post for that.
